What can you get for $1.50?

This is what I got for $1.54 today....

4 packages of Bic Highlighter pens

1 tub of 64 count Huggies Wipes

2 packages Peanut M&M's

45 4x6 photo prints

1 8x10 Scrapbook print

Where and how you may ask....well Walgreens was where it was at this week!

The Bic highlighters were on sale for 39 cents/package regularly $2.59 plus I had a $1/2 packages of Bic Stationary supplies and I had two of those coupons so $1.56 for the highlighter with $2 in coupons......I'll add to this scenario in a second

All week Walgreens has been having special deals with their on line ordering....on Monday it was 25 prints for 25 cents.. I couldn't believe it, 1 cent a print, that is unheard of. Tuesday and Wednesdays deals we not so hot but Thursdays deal was 20 free prints, now I thought 1 cent a print was good but free is even better! Then today, Friday's deal was a free scrapbook page up to 8x10 size so my grand total for 45 4x6 prints and an 8x10 scrapbook print was..... dun da da dun...25 cents! This normally would have cost me about $14, now I normally would not have paid 19 cents a print or bought a $5 scrapbook page but since they were free I could handle that

Well since I now have a negative total because my Bic highlighter coupons surpass the amount that they cost and the register won't allow for that I notice they have coupons for 49 cents M&Ms and since my shopper helpers have been so good I get them each a package so my grand total for 45 prints, 4 package of Highlighters, 1 8x10 print and 2 packages of M&Ms is $1....wow

Then on my way out the door I notice they have a store coupon for $2/1 tub of huggies wipes. I knew I also hada 75 cents off manufacturer coupon and I know that Walgreens accecpts 1 store adn 1 manufacturer coupon on any item so I go back to the baby care aisle and pick up a tub...with both my coupons I spend a total of 54 cents!

What a great bargin day!

Bitter Sweet

I went to the corps last night for Bible Study but I really wanted to find how Kathryn's funeral went and how Tayler is holding up. Both Majors said that it went really well, that there was a good turn out and that Tayler was doing as well as could be expected given the circumstance. When I was talking to Mrs later she said that Kathryn had wanted to be burried next to her infant son who has passed over 15 years ago...well there were some circumstances that were not allowing that to happen but the funeral director remembered the family and remembered doing the funeral for her son and pulled some strings and got it so the baby's body could be exumed and placed at the feet of Kathryn in her casket and they would now both be layed to rest where the baby had previously been burried. This is the most touching story I have heard in a long time so thank you to the funeral director who went above and beyond to make this happen.

Fragility of Life

Today I sit and am reflecting on the fragility of life as we are saying good bye to a faithful corps member. One week ago today everything was normal, we went to women's ministries and had a great time packing back packs for The Salvation Army's annual back to school program and little more than 24 hours later we receive a call saying that Kathryn had been promoted to glory, leaving behind a 14 year old daughter, it just doesn't seem fair. She was visiting a friend with her daughter in the hospital when she collasped and they were not able to revive her...a pulmonary embolism the culprit.... Last week at this time neither Kathryn or her daughter never knew they had just a brief time left with eachother and now Tayler has to grow up with out her mom and Kathryn will never have the opportunity to see her only daughter graduate from high school, get married and have kids...my heart is aching for this situation. Kathryn was Miriam and Micah's Moonbeam leader so we have had a couple of interesting conversations about death with Miriam, conversations that I knew were inevitable but didn't think I would be tackling this soon, it is amazing the process and the abilities of a three year olds brain....The reality is that none of us are ever promised tomorrow, I pray that Tayler knows how very much her mom loved her and how amazingly proud of her she was. Sunday morning coffee is not going to be the same.

Looks like it's been awhile....

Since I made my last post....David has been on a work trip to Pennslyvania and has been gone for four weeks so far and will be home at the end of next week so my computer time has been quite limited....

Since he has been gone Micah has learned to say Mommy and Daddy....he has always been very chatty and has had a pretty big vocabulay but it was always Mama and Dada but now he says the entire word and the way he says it just melts my heart.

We are going to have a girls weekend this weekend...My stepmom and dad are taking Micah to their cabin for the first time by himself...Miriam has gone up many of times by herself and at last it is his first time....he has been so attached to me for so long and has just recently gotten to the point where he is ok with out me so I packed him up and dropped him off and he was ready! I'm a little nervous since this is his first time by himself but I know and trust he is in great hands!

I can't wait for next month so MOPs can start up again, I am going through MOPs withdrawls...

Father's Day

My husband is the world's most difficult person to shop for....he never asks for anything so I am always on my own to find somerthing that I think he will like. It takes me forever to pick something out because I want to make sure it will be perfect and I usually start weeks ahead of time. I had been racking my brain for awhile trying to figure out what to get him for Father's Day and then I decided that I would make his gift. My daughter is always saying the most off the wall things adn we have always wanted a way to preserve those funny moments in time so I decided that was what I was going to do for him and it ended up being a lot easier than I thought. I took paper lunch bags and folded then in half and then bound it with ribbon. Every other page has a "pocket" from the opening to the bag and on those pages I put the quotes that are so much funnier when you know the story behind why she said something so in the "pocket" I put a little card that you can pull out and read the story behind the quote. The one problem with getting the gift done early is that I got impatient and gave it to him this week...he absolutely loved it! I have already started keeping track of quotes for a second edition :)

My First Post

Anyone who know me, knows I LOVE to bargin shop! If there is a deal or a way to save money I will find it and I have to tell ya, I have found some GREAT deals lately!

First off I LOVE Target! The first place I head when I get in there is the clearance isle and I struck it BIG this past week

Kotex Pantyliners 64 count....marked down to $2.40 the box had a $2.00 store coupon and I had a 75 cent off manufacturer coupon so I "got paid" 5 cents to get this box of Kotex...Lucky me I had 3 manufacturer coupons so I was able to get 3 boxes for a total of getting paid 15 cents! Score!

Dove Bar 4 pak of bar soap plus a 8 Fl oz travel size bottle of body was was marked down from $3.99 to $1.98 plus I had a $1.00 a Dove 4 pk bar soap for a total of 98 cents!

Dove 16 Fl oz Body Wash plus 8 fl oz travel size bottle marked down from $3.99 to $1.99 plus I had another $1.00 coupon for a total of 98 cents!

Head and Shoulders 14.2 Fl oz Shampoo plus Travel Size Shampoo and Conditioner marked down from $4.99 to $2.24 plus I had a $1.00 coupon for a total of $1.24 each! Thats cheaper than the store brand! I had six $1.00 coupons so I bought all 6 bottles that they had on clearace!

Old Spice deoderant 2 -2.25 oz sticks and 1 -3.5 oz sticks marked down from $5.00 to $2.50 plus a $1.00 off coupon... that comes out to 50 cents a stick! Not bad!

Secret deoderant 3 -1.6 0z sticks and one travel size stick marked down from $5.00 to $2.50 plus $1.00 coupon.

Colgate Toothpaste 3 -8.2 0z bottles marked from $4.99 to $2.48 plus 50 cent off coupon...good deal

Colgate kids toothbrush on clearance for 54 cents plus 75 cent off coupon...yep I got paid 21 cents for the find! I can handle that!

Always Infinity on sale for $8.99 and when you purchase 2 you receive a $5.00 gift card.. I had 1 $3.00 off coupon and 1 $4.00 off coupon so in the end I ended up spending roughly $6.00 for 2 after my coupons plus my $5.00 gift card....then to top it off I grabbed one of those "special" gift cards, you know the ones that have little games on them or what ever...well the one I grabbed turned into a reusable shopping bag so I had them put my $5.00 card on that so I got a reuseable bag on top of everything

Venus Embrace Razors plus travel size shave gel were on sale for $7.99 and when you purchased two you received a $10 Target Card...well I had 2 $2.00 coupons so I ended up paying roughly $12 and then I got a $10 off card so it was like paying $2.00 for really nice razors and shave gel.

Some of these coupons I never expected to use when I clipped them, just because those products are so expensive to start out with I never thought my coupons would get them even close to the store brand version.. I am glad that I had patience and clipped then anyways.

And that's just my Target finds this past week!
